Sacaim S.p.A. has been awarded the contract as General Contractor for the construction of the new Felettino Hospital in La Spezia, overseeing the civil and building works of one of the most innovative healthcare complexes in the country.

The project, developed according to the most advanced technological standards and environmental sustainability criteria, envisions a modern facility with nine above-ground floors and one underground level, more than 500 beds, a helipad, and extensive service areas.

The architectural layout is organized into four volumes arranged in a radial pattern, connected to form a semicircular body that conveys openness, hospitality, and functionality. The internal distribution follows a simple and clear principle: the lower levels host the most complex and strategic functions (emergency, high care, laboratories), while the upper floors accommodate the inpatient wards, designed in brighter spaces with reduced technical impact, ensuring the humanization of care and well-being for patients, visitors, and staff.

Supporting the facility, a multi-storey car park with over 960 spaces for cars and motorcycles, along with dedicated parking areas for specialized services, guarantees accessibility and comfort. Outside, themed gardens, pedestrian pathways, and stone terraces create a harmonious and welcoming environment, capable of integrating healthcare functions with the quality of urban space.

Thanks to the know-how of the Rizzani de Eccher Group and Sacaim’s established experience in the healthcare sector – with over 10,000 hospital beds delivered in Italy and abroad – the new hospital becomes a model of innovation, sustainability, and people-centered care.

The project involves the expansion and renovation of the Cattinara Hospital and the construction of the new headquarters of the Burlo Garofolo pediatric hospital.

The Burlo Garofolo will consist of 6 floors above ground and will have facades with green roofs. From the pedestrian entrance, a spiral staircase will lead to a lounge with educational ateliers, internet points and lounges, while the little patients’ rooms will have a sofa to accommodate their parents as well.

The redevelopment of the Cattinara aims to create a connection between the two towers, one medical and the other surgical.

Description

Construction of a service building for the Adria hospital which connects the three buildings of the hospital complex via a series of tunnels and corridors.

The structure is built to be flexible over time with a regular 8×8 m grid made up of steel pillars and beams with a central core of the stairwells in reinforced concrete, with a windbreak function, and stairwell systems, with vertical distribution shafts to guarantee the connections with the equipment rooms on the top floor and the single rooms of the ground floor areas.

The hospital is situated in an area of 257.000 m², not far from the Southern extension of the Euganei Hills, in a strategic position that makes it easily reachable for all the localities in the territory. The integration of the structure into the landscape context was valorized by an architectural solution which interprets, by means of a series of waves on the roofing, the ratio between the large building structure and the surrounding landscape.
The structure is made up of three main bodies with a total gross surface of approximately 114.000 m². that shelter the services of diagnosis, care and hospital stay for about 410 ordinary beds, 72 beds in day hospital and 27 operating rooms.

Construction of the new “Moskovsky” Medical Center in Moscow, located in the Krylatsky uptown quarter.
The project consists in the construction of a building with an overall built-up area of approx. 27.800 sqm, rising on a total site area of 3,5 hectares. The structure is in reinforced concrete made on site, with a ventilated granite facade.
The medical center features 50 beds and 5 “VIP” class wards, 8 maternity/post-pregnancy wards, 8 intensive care units, diagnostics and a laboratory ward, a polyclinic treatment ward, physiotherapy and post-surgical rehabilitation, as well as a large congress center for medical conferences.

Description

The Jona Pavillion is part of the St. John & Paul Hospital, located in the historic center of Venice. The hospital complex consists of a historic core identifiable in the monumental building and more recent buildings built between the early 1900s and the present day, such as the Jona, Gaggia, Semerani, and First Aid Pavillions.

The new Jona Pavillion hosts the Pediatrics Department, the sub-intensive maternal and children area, the Gynecology and Medicine Department, the Nephrology and Pulmonology Department, Geriatrics, and log-term care rehabilitation, in addition to the Hemodialysis Department. Scope of works included the almost complete demolition of the existing pavillion and its extension, including foundation, structural and elevation works, with the restoration of the facade overlooking the Venice lagoon in accordance with the rules of the Architectural Building Suprerintendent of Venice. Finishing and completion of the new building included an helipad on the roof. The new facades were made of concrete and the windows with continuos facade system. Construction of the hospital has been completed with in-situ cast concrete.

Description

Construction and maintenance of buildings and plants of the General Hospital of Bergamo, a highly-specialized structure.
The complex includes 7 5-storey buildings, built harmoniously into the surrounding landscape, and is characterized by a large green area with waterways, bibycle paths and various services. The road system is spread over a circular path connecting the main roads and the next railway and fast tram station.
The buildings are externally coated with a ventilated facade system. Exterior walkways are protected by architectural elements made of steel, while the windows are partially made with a continuous facade system.

Designed by the architect Rosario Galgano – was built to house:

• A medical residence for elderly people with 114 beds, including a ward dedicated to elderly people with cognitive problems with 31 beds
• A day center for people with senile dementia, which aims to improve the quality of life of patients thanks to socialization and cognitive stimulation programs
• The new headquarters of the Municipal Social Welfare Service (SAS), with the administration and the offices dedicated to welcoming the patients.
• A nursery with hosting capacity of 26 babies
• The largest integrated photovoltaic system in Ticino, on the building facade for an installed power of approximately 170 kWp equal to an area of over 1,600 square meters.

BOT contract for the design, construction, and operation of Udine Hospital, which included new emergency area, a new laboratory, a power plant, a CHP plant, a district heating system and tunnels.
The new technological center, fueled with renewable energy sources, produces 100 megawatt of energy for thermal, cooling and electricity use. This amount is enough do not only completely cover the needs of the hospital, but also of 39 large energy users in the neighborhood, by connecting to the public utility services. This is the only case in Italy when the district heating network is powered by a hospital.
The modern services and laboratories center houses the highly automated and technological laboratory, capable of producing own blood components, a pharmacy, departments of microbiology, virology, molecular diagnosis, toxicology, and pharmacology, designated research areas, meeting rooms, and training facilities. In addition, two new tunnels were built for pedestrian and technological use

Construction of the new highly specialized “”G. Salesi”” maternal-infant hospital structure, planned within the University hospital area of Ospedali Riuniti – Umberto I °, in Torrette in the Municipality of Ancona.

The project, which enhances the peculiarity of the structure as a highly specialized center, a clinical-scientific center of excellence for the health of children, women and couples, is conceived with criteria of flexibility that allow to modify its functional structure without compromising the coherence of the architectural complex.

Scope of works include:

• construction of the new building of pathological anatomy – morgue;
• construction of a new ecological island;
• demolitions;
• resolution of interferences and relocation of subservices;
• new maternal-infant hospital building “G. Salesi“.

Description

BOT contract for the design, construction, and operation of the restoration, upgrading, and extension of Brescia Hospital. The project is a deep conversion and re-organization of all healthcare activities, as well as construction of new buildings in line with the highest sanitary and technological standards and general renovation of the existing ones.

The ultimate goal is to make Brescia Hospital one of the best healthcare facilities in northern Italy.
