Description

Design and construction of the new double electrified railway line between Oued Tlelat and Tlemcen.

The new project, consisting in the first high-speed railway to be realized in Algeria, is located in the north-western part of the country. The line starts near the coast and will connect the small town of Oued Tlelat, in the neighbourhood of Oran, the second major city in Algeria, to the city of Tlemcen, which is an old and picturesque town located near the Moroccan frontier, in a mountainous region. The total length will reach 130 km.

The utilization speed will reach 220 km/h for high-speed passenger trains with electrical traction. The line will also be used for merchandise trains with diesel engines, at a lower operational speed.
