Description

Rail Baltica railway project will connect five European Union countries – Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and, indirectly, Finland – through seven international railway passengers’ stations – Tallinn, Pärnu, Riga Central, Riga Airport, Panevežys, Kaunas and Vilnius – by means of a European gauge (1435 mm) railway line.

The subject of the contract is the design and execution of the doubling of part of the railway line from the central station of Riga to the Daugava River, integrating the existing line with the Russian gauge (1520mm) with a new line with the European gauge (1435mm), motor transport, public metropolitan transport and the passenger and cyclist flows.

The Contract includes the construction of the new railway bridge over the river, the reconstruction of some overpasses, the reconstruction of the Riga railway station and part of the railway platform. The work is divided into several phases since it is always necessary to maintain the operation of the station and the railway traffic on at least 4 tracks.
