THE POST ROTTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS
04/22/2021

Rizzani de Eccher and Besix have joined hands in yet another prestigious construction project, and through their “The POST Bouw Joint-Venture” are delighted to add their mark to the skyline of Rotterdam with the new Post Tower.
Rizzani de Eccher is already successfully operating in the Netherlands and is well known for its landmark Y-Towers project in Amsterdam, which with its two towers of over 100 metres in height will redefine the skyline of Amsterdam-Noord, just across the IJ. Furthermore, Rizzani de Eccher is not entirely new to the city of Rotterdam: the cable stays of Rotterdam’s most defining landmark, the Erasmus bridge, bear the hallmark of Tensa, one of Rizzani de Eccher’s bridge division subsidiaries.
The JV is proud to bring its experience and know-how to bear on this complex project situated in the heart of the city, which will see a 156m tower rising from the historic central post office, one of the only three city landmarks that have survived WW2 unscathed. The challenges are particularly daunting in terms of logistics and avoiding disruption to one of the city’s most bustling areas.
The Project’s first phase ( “Post Tower”) provides for the turn-key construction of a 43 floors tower for a gross floor area of ca. 39.000 sqm with 305 apartments. Construction will take 47 months for a total contract amount in excess of EUR 103 million.
The second phase of the same project (the “Monument”) calls for the renovation of the historic Post Office building and its transformation in a 224-keys luxury hotel to be operated by Kimpton (Intercontinental) and shopping arcade, for a total gross floor area of 26.000 sqm.
The client is Omnam Group, a pioneering real estate group with a vision to identify the diamonds in the rough, transforming the ordinary into the iconic, in many European city hubs (London, Amsterdam, Paris and Rome).
