Description

Palazzo Contarini del Bovolo is the building with the amazing Gothic-style spiral staircase, hidden inside a small courtyard. It was built in 1499 and the term ‘Bovolo’ indicates the reference to the spiral staircase in the Venetian dialect. Inside the palace are collected a series of paintings belonging to the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.

The restoration works involved both internal and external. Outside, the restoration of the stone elements, the removal of incompatible plasters, the restoration of historical fragments and the execution of lime plasters to accompany the originals and the installation of new windows. Inside, demolition of stairwells and internal partitions, reinforcement and consolidation of attics, restoration of wall decorations and execution of lime plasters, creation of new partitions and false ceilings, new electrical and air conditioning systems, new floors in Venetian lime, windows and doors and installation of new elevators.
