Description

BOT contract for the design, construction, and operation of Udine Hospital, which included new emergency area, a new laboratory, a power plant, a CHP plant, a district heating system and tunnels.
The new technological center, fueled with renewable energy sources, produces 100 megawatt of energy for thermal, cooling and electricity use. This amount is enough do not only completely cover the needs of the hospital, but also of 39 large energy users in the neighborhood, by connecting to the public utility services. This is the only case in Italy when the district heating network is powered by a hospital.
The modern services and laboratories center houses the highly automated and technological laboratory, capable of producing own blood components, a pharmacy, departments of microbiology, virology, molecular diagnosis, toxicology, and pharmacology, designated research areas, meeting rooms, and training facilities. In addition, two new tunnels were built for pedestrian and technological use
