RAIL BALTICA is a completely new rail infrastructure project aimed at integrating the Baltic states into the European rail network. The project involves five European Union countries-Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and, indirectly, Finland. It will connect Tallinn, Pärnu, Riga, Panevežys, Kaunas, Vilnius and Warsaw with a 249 km/h high-speed rail line for passenger traffic and 120 km/h for freight traffic.
