Description

Design and construction of a cable-stayed pedestrian bridge over Swan River, including landscaping and public art works and construction of a bus stand for special events.

The Matagarup Pedestrian Bridge connects the East Perth side with the Burswood Peninsula. The construction of the bridge is part of the new Perth stadium project and provides easy pedestrian access to the stadium.
The bridge appearance relates not only to the name of the river, but also to the design of the stadium and particular features of the site.

The major line that shapes the bridge brings to mind several potential associations, such as waves, serpents, the shape and flow of the Swan River, the hilly landscape around Perth.
