Description

Construction of superstructure for the State Road 826 (Palmetto Expressway)/State Road 836 (Dolphin Expressway) interchange reconstruction. The scope of works included design, pre-fabrication, launch, and erection of an elevated deck, consisting of four bridges and forming a five-level cloverleaf interchange. Reconstruction was necessary to enhance safety and reduce congestion on the highway intersection.
The bridge ramps were constructed via balanced cantilever method, for a total length of all four bridges sums up to 2,355 meters, each 14 m wide. The curved ramps on the third level have 180 m radii and reach a maximum height of 29 m. All bridges are supported by pile foundations and reinforced concrete piers. 19,000 m³ of concrete was employed, 1,924 t of reinforcing steel, and 950 t of posttensioning steel.
