Description
Inaugurated in 1985 and designed by Studio Matildi, the Cadore bridge is an extraordinary piece of engineering that spans 1,150 meters, reaching a maximum height of 184 meters above the Piave River. This strategic infrastructure is part of the SS 51 “di Alemagna” highway, connecting the mountainous areas of Cadore, Comelico and Cortina d’Ampezzo to the Veneto plain.
Crossing the Piave Valley, the bridge is a key part of the link between Caralte and Tai di Cadore, consisting of three access viaducts and an imposing arch-frame bridge, which forms its structural heart.
Over the years, the Cadore bridge has ensured the safety and fluidity of the road system in one of the most picturesque areas of the country. However, the infrastructure now shows some critical issues that require targeted interventions to preserve its functionality and safety over time. The current redevelopment project aims to resolve these issues.
